Padel Court Installations in Agricultural, Farm Buildings and Barns

generate additional income by installing an indoor padel court in your agricultural farm building or barn

We know in the farming community margins are tighter than ever, and income and profits are being squeezed. If you’re a farmer and you’re exploring additional income streams; an indoor padel court installation could be for you. Padel courts are in high demand, they are low maintenance and can provide a great return.

We are a family-run, family-owned business that have been building tennis courts,  sports surfaces and more recently, padel courts, for three generations. We have always understood that the continued success of our business depends upon the satisfaction of our customers. We provide a high-quality service and real value for money. These are reflected in the care and attention to the tennis courts we build and the development of products that are available nowhere else.

padel courts designed and installed by en tout cas

En Tout Cas can design, supply and install both indoor and outdoor padel courts. Indoor courts provide sheltered year round use, but outdoor padel courts give players the added benefits that come from playing outside. With amenities such as lighting and canopies, both indoor and outdoor padel courts offer a great playing experience.

Demand for Padel courts in the UK

A Fast Growing Sport

Padel is one of the UK’s fastest growing sports, and the numbers are backing up the hype. LTA’s figures show that at the end of 2024 400,000 people had played padel at least once, compared to 2023 when 129,000 had played and 2019 when only 15,000 had played. LTA’s report also shared that 8.2 million people are interested in playing padel.

Demand Outweighing Availability

Despite its popularity, and the number of venues offering padel increasing, demand is still outweighing padel court availability. In LTA’s report, it states there are 300 venues offering around 893 courts across the UK, with indoor courts particularly in demand.

High Occupancy Rates in the UK

Playtomic’s Global Padel report notes that the UK in particular is seeing high occupancy rates within padel venues. In the report, the UK is noted as the fifth biggest market in the world.

Padel Courts for Farmers, Barns and Agricultural Buildings - FAQs

There are certain permitted development rights that mean agricultural farm buildings can be eligible for a change to commercial use. The current legislation, which was updated in 2024, is designed to be more streamlined and quick compared to regular planning applications, however, there are a number of prerequisites that need to be considered and reviewed carefully to ensure you are working within existing regulations.

We support our clients with the concept and suggest solutions needed for the planning application. Planning consent is obtained by the site developer and is not included in our contractor quotations.

You can expect to pay around £40K (plus VAT) for an indoor padel court, including a surface. There will be other considerations and amenities you may need to consider too, such as heating or air conditioning, CCTV, reception areas and comfort areas.

Your barn or building will need to be 24m long and 12m wide, ideally. It will also need to be 6m high in the eaves of the building.

This will vary based on demand in your area and the pricing model you choose to offer. Our clients often see courts occupied 60% to 80% of their open times, with customers paying around £40 per hour. It’s important to note that many courts are open beyond 9am to 5pm to meet demand and increase earning potential.

Owning a Padel court can be a profitable business, especially with the recent growth and demand for the sport. However, like most businesses, the success and profit will depend on various factors such as location, competition, occupancy rate, having diverse income streams, membership, effective management and many more.

The time it takes to build a Padel court varies depending on several factors, for example, if the court is inside or outside, if any ground works are required, what access there is to the site and the final specification of the court. For guidance, we allow around 2 weeks for indoor padel court installs and 6 to 8 weeks for outdoor padel court installs. These timings can of course be impacted by delivery delays and the weather, but we would always make sure you're aware if we anticipate any changes to the timeline.

Deciding on what funding is required will depend on the best options for your project. Options like the LTA’s quick access loan scheme is a good starting base as they can provide interest-free loans for eligible organisations. Other options available are working with private investors or strategic partners as well as bank and business loans. We are able to provide more details if you contact us.

We recommend using Playtomic software which allows you to manage your bookings, and matches players in your area to your padel court, with users reporting simplicity of use and use of the court increasing.
